Welcome to West End

The West End is a small but significant community tucked behind Beacon Hill and Storrow Drive. The neighborhood is made up of various office, apartment, and condominium complexes and is anchored by the Massachusetts General Hospital.

The neighborhood as we know it today was built under a controversial urban renewal project which began in the 1950s, replacing the neighborhood’s tight streets and rowhouses, as well as its working-class occupants, in favor of new buildings targeted at upper-class residents.

The West End is well located, close to the TD Garden, Government Center, and easy transportation by car or public transit. Residential communities include Charles River Park on Whittier Place, West End Place at 150 Staniford Street, and Hawthorne Place.
