Dorchester is Boston’s largest neighborhood, and also one of its most diverse. Popular residential communities within Dorchester include Savin Hill, Jones Hill, and Ashmont. The main business district in Dorchester is Uphams Corner and Harbor Point is the home of several large employers, including the Boston campus of the University of Massachusetts. 
 
The spine of Dorchester is Dorchester Avenue, which runs from Lower Mills to downtown Boston. The neighborhood is also well serviced by the MBTA Red Line with stops throughout Dorchester. 
 
Dorchester is also home to the oldest home in Boston, the James Black House, which was built in 1648, and the Walter Baker Chocolate Factory, America’s first chocolate factory.
 
Architecturally, the neighborhood is dominated by 3 family triple-decker housing, which serves as an investment property, is occupied, or has been converted to condominiums.
