Jamaica Plain is one of Boston’s most diverse and dynamic neighborhoods. The blend of cultures is reflected in local businesses, primarily located on Centre Street, Jamaica Plain’s main thoroughfare.

Residents are proud and involved in their community, and are focused on the preservation of green spaces and not-for-profit activities, many of which are anchored by “Spontaneous Celebrations,” a community center that sponsors the Springtime “Wake Up The Earth Festival” and the Halloween “Lantern Parade.”

Residents and visitors of Jamaica Plain also enjoy walking, biking, and running along Jamaica Pond, which is part of Boston’s Emerald Necklace, as well as the Arnold Arboretum and Franklin Park.

“JP,” as most refer to it, is serviced downtown by the MBTA Orange Line, and has a varied housing stock ranging from condominiums and multi-family homes to the large Victorian single-family homes that grace Sumner Hill.
